about

Using West African Iyesa bell patterns as a base, this tune builds into an Afrobeat funk groove by the time the Kulintang gong melody comes in. The Maranao are from the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines and Kulintang plays a central part in their music culture. After the middle dub section, Congolese guitars layer in as a bed for the Strat solo.
